Pakistan Test cricket vice-captain, Saud Shakeel, has made a big achievement by entering the top 10 in the ICC Test rankings for batters.
In the latest rankings from the International Cricket Council (ICC), Shakeel climbed to seventh place, jumping an impressive 20 spots.
His strong performance in the recent Test series against England in Pakistan was key to this success.
Pakistan celebrated a memorable win against England in the third Test, securing the series 2-1. The team took a solid lead of 77 runs in the first innings on a pitch that favored spin bowlers.
Shakeel’s highest career rating is 724, with his top score of 728 achieved during a match against Australia in Melbourne in 2023.
Currently, England Joe Root leads the ICC Test batters rankings. New Zealand Kane Williamson is in second place, while India Yashasvi Jaiswal moved up to third.
Pakistan former captain Babar Azam has also improved, rising from 19th to 18th place.
In bowling, Pakistan Noman Ali entered the ICC top 10, moving up eight spots to reach ninth.
Shaheen Shah Afridi, however, slipped from 14th to 15th place. South Africa Kagiso Rabada is now the top-ranked Test bowler, with India’s Jasprit Bumrah in third.
India star batter, Virat Kohli, has dropped to 14th position in the rankings.
